Electrical Design Engineer

A reputable organisation is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join their team.

The Opportunity

This company delivers outstanding engineering design across the full project lifecycle, with recent project success and continuing high demand from clients. They are seeking to expand their dynamic team of electrical and instrument engineers and designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Principal/Lead Engineers to drive project design and support the growing Electrical team.
  • Complete and review power system calculations and modelling using industry-leading software.
  • Lead design projects from bidding concept to commissioning, collaborating with contractors and consultants.
  • Take ownership and provide leadership to ensure technical project success.
  • Undertake site audits/inspections and offer expert advice.
  • Develop and review technical project deliverables at a technical authority level.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, internal engineers, and project managers.
Requirements
  • 10 years of expertise in design engineering related to electrical substations, renewable energy, and transmission or distribution sectors.
  • Experience in solar PV and/or battery energy storage systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian energy environment.
  • Strong understanding of earthing, protection, cable, and HV design.
  • Experience supporting the procurement team with technical knowledge of products, systems, and market sectors within the electrical industry.
  • Proficiency in applying Australian Standards such as AS/NZS 3000, AS2067, AS62271, and relevant design standards and statutory regulations.
  • Strong leadership abilities, a passion for mentoring young engineers, and a drive to ensure project success.
  • Experience in two or more sectors: Renewables, Power Utilities, Substations, Solar, and Hydrogen.
