Job Description:

The Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service is a leading provider of pathology services in the region. As Medical Scientist in Charge Anatomical Pathology, you will be responsible for managing the operational and scientific aspects of our Anatomical Pathology department.

You will work closely with our Laboratory Manager and Heads of Department to realise departmental objectives and provide expert scientific advice to clinical staff at Launceston General Hospital in matters pertaining to Anatomical Pathology.

The successful applicant will have a good understanding of Anatomical pathology workflows, with proficiency in Histology and/or Cytology. Prior experience in managing teams will be considered an advantage, as well as postgraduate qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert scientific advice to clinical staff on matters pertaining to Anatomical Pathology.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this role, applicants must have satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution. Desirable criteria include five years' experience in Routine Histology or equivalent, relevant postgraduate qualification, and Cytology experience and CT (ASC).
