Key Role: Fisheries Monitoring and Compliance Specialist
The Tasmanian government is seeking a highly skilled individual to assist with the transition to Digital Catch Effort Reporting in the marine resources department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, specialized team and contribute to the continual review and improvement of systems and procedures.
This role will involve working on a project that involves rock lobster and abalone catch and effort reporting. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate statutory registers and fisheries monitoring systems, identifying and referring instances of non-compliance for investigation, appearing in court as needed, collaborating with government agencies and industry stakeholders on fisheries monitoring, and providing expert written and verbal assistance to clients.
As a key member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, including data analysis, system development, and stakeholder engagement. Your skills and experience will be essential in ensuring the successful implementation of the Digital Catch Effort Reporting system.
About the Position:
- Job Type: Fixed-term, full-time
- Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation)
- Period of appointment: 24 months
