As a Principal Tailings Engineer, you will be part of our team that provides technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSFs). Our clients are major mining companies with operations in Australia, and we are their designated Engineers of Record for several projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design;
  • Geotechnical analyses using various software packages;
  • Understanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D);
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications;
  • Client Development.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. A postgraduate degree is preferred but not essential.
  • Professional registration is also desirable but not required.
  • You must have a valid Australian driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You should have knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software and numerical modeling tools.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills are essential for this role.
