Printing Machinist Job Summary

A sought-after Printing Machinist is required to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in printing and manufacturing environments.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and calibrate printing presses for production runs
  • Operate and maintain offset, flexographic, and digital printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials
  • Loading substrates and adjusting feed mechanisms, ink levels, and print settings
  • Operate finishing equipment such as laminators, guillotines, and CNC routers
  • Mix and match inks to meet job specifications
  • Monitor ink flow, substrate tension, and drying systems during production
  • Handle a variety of materials including vinyl, acrylic, foam board, corflute, and paper stock
  • Conduct test prints and inspect output for clarity, alignment, and color accuracy
  • Identify and correct print defects or machine errors
  • Maintain consistent quality across batch runs
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of machinery
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical or print-related issues
  • Report major faults to supervisors and assist with repairs when required
  • Prepare printing plates, blankets, and impression cylinders, ensuring alignment and precision
  • Monitor print runs for quality assurance, identify and resolve mechanical or output issues
  • Interpret job sheets, artwork files, and production schedules
  • Record production data, machine settings, and maintenance logs
  • Collaborate with design, production, and installation teams to ensure job accuracy
  • Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on printing equipment to minimize downtime

Requirements:

The successful candidate will hold relevant qualifications, including an AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required. Technical certifications in printing or related fields are advantageous. Previous experience in a printing or manufacturing environment is a plus but not mandatory.
