Job Description

As a senior accounting professional, you will play a key role in collaborating with top-tier professionals in fund and property accounting while driving the implementation of robust accounting standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), IFRS, and their application to Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Managed Investment Schemes.

Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team of Property and Fund Accountants, preparing detailed monthly management accounts, and providing comprehensive commentary on portfolio performance.

Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee technical accounting matters, including consolidations, acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of Property and Fund Accountants
  • Prepare detailed monthly management accounts and provide comprehensive commentary on portfolio performance
  • Oversee technical accounting matters, including consolidations, acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures
  • Manage and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Drive the development of accounting policies related to property and trust accounting
  • Review and refine the financial and commercial structures of new joint ventures and special purpose vehicles (SPVs)
  • Prepare quarterly Board papers and offer strategic insight into investment analysis and financial performance
Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance, with CPA or CA accreditation
  • 10+ years of experience in technical accounting, ideally with recent experience at a senior level in the commercial real estate or funds management sector
  • Strong technical understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), IFRS, and their application to REITs and Managed Investment Schemes
  • Proven ability to write and present technical accounting papers, and liaise effectively with auditors on complex accounting matters
