About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mining Engineer to join our team at Thiess. As a key member of our coal project, you will be responsible for designing and developing plans and schedules for the mining operation at our Lake Vermont site.

Working an 8/6 roster, you will report to the Senior Mining Engineer and be part of a dynamic team that is committed to delivering safe and sustainable operations. Your duties will include:

  • Developing short-term design plans and schedules for the mining operation.
  • Assisting with the development and improvement of mine planning guidelines for autonomous operations.
  • Reconciling actuals against mine plan, assumptions, and benchmarks.
  • Verifying the accuracy of operational data captured.
  • Analyzing operational data and proposing improvements.
  • Assisting the Senior Engineer in the management of the weekly dig/dump plans in consultation with Mining Superintendents and Supervisors.
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance with the Weekly Plan and site Safety Health and Environmental management systems.
  • Assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting against KPIs and budgets.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
  • Previous demonstrated experience in an Open-Cut mining environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Experience with Vulcan or other mine design software.
  • Scheduling experience (Spry or another package) will be highly regarded.
  • Minestar and autonomy experience will be highly regarded.
