Family Support Specialist

Make a Meaningful Difference in the Lives of Vulnerable Children and Families

This role plays a vital part in improving the safety and well-being of children and families in need. As an experienced Family Support Specialist, you will work with families to develop effective plans for long-term positive outcomes.

The service is an early intervention and prevention program for families with children aged 0-18 who are at risk of entering child protection services. With your passion to make a difference, you will be a valuable addition to our team.

Duties:

  • Engage with families and collaborate with them to develop effective plans for long-term positive outcomes
  • Undertake case management including reviews, reporting, and administration functions
  • Provide therapeutic intervention to support case plans
  • Assist clients to transition out of the service

Key Requirements:

  • A background in child protection, youth work, or out-of-home care with knowledge of Early Intervention principles
  • Crisis management skills, including assessing risk and safety
  • Ability to engage and work respectfully with families from diverse backgrounds and needs
  • Provision of intervention strategies - planning, implementation, and facilitation
  • Case management from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and family-focused framework
  • Strong administration skills - reporting, case notes, and documentation
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing ability
  • Dedication to professional boundaries, integrity, and ethical standards
  • Great time management and prioritization skills
