Senior Ecologist Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team in Orange, NSW. This role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual looking to lead projects, mentor junior staff and provide high-level technical advice across various ecological and town planning projects.

  • The successful candidate will support the Principal Ecologist and Town Planning team by delivering technical ecological interpretation and advice, leading fieldwork programs, reporting and client liaison, mentoring and supervising ecologists and subcontracted technicians, and applying their deep knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and biodiversity policies.

About the Role:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position requiring a Full-time onsite presence.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with a wide range of environmental planning projects and 5-10 years experience in a Senior Ecological role.
  • A minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant field and BAM accreditation are also required.
  • In addition, a current Driver's Licence is necessary due to occasional field work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver expert ecological advice and input across town planning and environmental projects.
  • Manage and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Lead project reporting, contract negotiations, invoicing and performance assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Promote the company's environmental capabilities and contribute to business development.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, standards and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor team members and support their professional development.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working with a wide range of environmental planning projects.
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in a Senior Ecological role.
  • BAM accreditation.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Recognised technical expert in ecological management and deep understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policy.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with a focus on quality and delivery.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
