Ecological Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Ecologist to join our team in Orange, NSW. This role presents a unique chance for a motivated individual to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and provide high-level technical advice across various ecological and town planning initiatives.

  • Deliver technical ecological interpretation and expert advice on diverse projects.
  • Lead fieldwork programs, reporting, and client liaison.
  • Mentor and supervise ecologists and subcontracted technicians.
  • Apply deep knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and biodiversity policies.
About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring onsite presence with occasional flexibility. The successful candidate will support the Principal Ecologist and Town Planning team by providing expert ecological advice and input across town planning and environmental projects.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert ecological advice and input across town planning and environmental projects.
  2. Manage and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  3. Lead project reporting, contract negotiations, invoicing, and performance assessments.
  4. Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  5. Promote the company's environmental capabilities and contribute to business development.
  6. Ensure compliance with environmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  7. Supervise and mentor team members and support their professional development.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience working with a wide range of environmental planning projects with 5-10 years' experience in a Senior Ecological role.
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant field and BAM accreditation.
  • Current Driver's Licence as there is occasional field work.
  • A recognised technical expert in ecological management and deep understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policy.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with a focus on quality and delivery.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
