
First Nations Health Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced academic to lead the development, refinement, coordination, and delivery of teaching and learning related to First Nations culture, history, traditional/contemporary knowledges, and health. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in the Doctor of Medicine program, particularly those studying the history and culture of First Nations peoples.
The role involves fostering partnerships with community organizations, engaging with First Nations networks, and developing connections for clinical experiences. The successful candidate will also support the alignment of existing learning and teaching with the University's First Nations Connected Curriculum Framework.

- Coordinating clinical experiences for students in the Doctor of Medicine program; and">
- Supporting the development of a culture of excellence and scholarship in health and medical education.">
Requirements:
">The successful candidate will have:

- A strong teaching and research record in Medical/Health Education or a related field;">
- Demonstrated experience in developing, teaching, and leading aspects of curricula within a higher education setting;">
- Experience undertaking community engagement activities, particularly in First Nations health networks;">
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and disciplines;">
- Ability to contribute to the development of a culture of excellence and scholarship in health and medical education;">
- Understanding of the principles of confidentiality, anti-discrimination, staff and student equity, occupational health and safety as well as other relevant legislation.">
Preferred Qualifications:
">The preferred candidate will have:

- Experience and/or qualifications in public health, health policy, or First Nations health research;">
- Demonstrated evidence of research activity in the field of medical or health-related education, relative to opportunity;">
- Capacity to supervise higher degree research students;">
- Ability to develop and lead scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning;">
- Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline or fellowship of a relevant specialist college or equivalent.">
