Navy Shipboard Security Specialist

About the Role:
Navigating a career in naval shipboard security requires a unique blend of physical and mental toughness. As a Navy Seamanship Combat Specialist, you'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our ships at sea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ship Driving and Lookout Duties: Conduct navigation and lookout duties on the ship's bridge, working closely with the crew to ensure safe passage.
- Replenishments at Sea: Participate in refueling operations, transferring fuel and equipment between ships at sea.
- RHIB Operations: Crew the ship's Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat during Man Overboard drills and other training exercises.
- Firefighting and Boarding Team Training: Develop skills as a member of a ship's firefighting team and participate in boarding and ship protection operations.
- Small Arms Training: Fire .50 calibre machine guns and other small arms weapons, and assist colleagues in using these systems.
Expected Salary: $122,331 (Starting Trade Training)
Career Progression:
As a Navy Seamanship Combat Specialist, your career will span a range of roles and responsibilities, from basic training to advanced leadership positions. With each promotion, you'll develop new skills and qualifications, including those related to boat operations, maritime military operations, and ceremonial duties.
You'll have opportunities to pursue further education and training through NZQA Level 3 Deck Hand certification, as well as Coastguard Day Skippers and Royal Yachting Association powerboat Level 2 certificates. These civilian qualifications demonstrate your expertise in boat operations and enhance your employability within the naval industry.

Education and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong foundation in core mariner skills and weapons training. You must meet strict citizenship and security requirements, be free of any criminal convictions for the previous two years, and undergo medical and fitness assessments.
