Senior Farm Underwriter Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Farm Underwriter to join our Commercial Underwriting team in Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing a high level of underwriting service to our Broker partners in NSW/ACT, and nationally where required.

About the Role
  • Provide and secure complex New Business and Renewals, and provide technical support, coaching, and leadership to the region underwriters and the broader Underwriting team.
  • Take Technical/Underwriting ownership of New Business prospecting and pipelining, and manage complex renewal processes.
  • Lead and coach team members to develop capability and build high-performing, collaborative, and engaged teams.
  • Manage workflows for Complex Accounts, such as New Business, Policy Maintenance, and Renewals, to ensure delivery of quality service standards.
  • Ensure business bound is aligned with divisional objectives and portfolio balance (growth and profit).
  • Identify profitable new business opportunities and maximize conversion/strike rate of desired business.
  • Maximize retention of preferred accounts and review renewal and new business and planning negotiations with Distribution and other Underwriting staff.
  • Conduct ongoing market intelligence gathering through liaison with Brokers, reviewing data, and assessing risk.
  • Underwrite insurance risks in the area of responsibility, adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and industry accreditations, where necessary.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial underwriting role (Farm experience is desirable) in a general insurance organization with a detailed understanding of account and reinsurance structures.
  • Adept at proactively building and maintaining professional relationships and networks to enhance industry positioning, exchange knowledge, and elicit beneficial outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organization.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends, and links that inform judgments and solutions.
  • Pays high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and has the ability to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact, and influence.
