Senior Leadership Role: People and Performance

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) as an Executive Manager People and Performance. This senior leadership role is based in beautiful Cooktown and offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, foster a positive workplace culture, and lead the Human Resources (HR) and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) teams to deliver organisational excellence.

About the Role

You will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing HR and WHS strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Championing a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with the ELT to align organisational goals with best practices in workforce planning and employee engagement.
  • Building positive relationships with stakeholders to manage industrial relations effectively.
  • Driving initiatives that enhance employee wellbeing and satisfaction.

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, WHS, or a related field, with at least five years' experience in a similar leadership role.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Queensland Local Government Act and Work Health and Safety Act.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver change management strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
