About the Role

The Australian National University is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager to lead the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) as its Interim Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to drive the organization's culture, oversee funding applications, and provide leadership within the Australian computing community.

As the Interim Director, you will be responsible for developing long-term strategies for NCI, providing national leadership on high-performance computational services, and fostering a collaborative environment with partners and funding agencies. You will also work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Initiatives and Infrastructure) to ensure the future sustainability of NCI as a national research infrastructure facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate strategic plans for NCI's growth and development
  • Provide leadership on high-performance computing initiatives and collaborations
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, universities, and industry partners
  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within NCI
  • Position NCI internationally through collaborative engagement with similar facilities
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A proven track record in leading large and complex research organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, leadership, and management
  • Extensive experience working with government agencies, universities, and industry partners
  • Strong interpersonal, persuasion, negotiation, and financial management skills
