
Drug Addiction Counselor Role Opportunity

This role is for a Counsellor to provide generalist counselling services to clients in the residential program at Calvary Riverina Hospital- Drug and Alcohol Centre, Wagga Wagga.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide evidence informed services including psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counselling and other relevant and approved modalities to clients
- Provide interventions to motivate clients toward change, including harm minimisation and relapse prevention strategies
- Identify, respond and escalate, if required, significant risk factors or deterioration in client's condition and develop and implement an appropriate management plan
- Develop caring, supportive and professional relationships with clients and their families/carers
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Registration with the Australian Counselling Association
- Highly developed knowledge and application of alcohol and other drugs theoretical frameworks, national guidelines and evidence based therapeutic interventions
- A sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of alcohol and other drug problems
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability
