About the roleThis clinical position involves the provision of intake, assessment, evidence-based interventions and case management services to individuals presenting to the service with issues related to opioid substance use in accordance with relevant NSW Health guidelines.
Interventions to be provided by this position include initiating and managing planned treatment options, psychosocial interventions, case management, crisis management, withdrawal management, consultation and referral to other agencies, advocacy for the client group and assistance with opioid replacement administration (where appropriate). You will also be involved in the facilitation and coordination of public prescriber clinics.
Integral to the position is the provision of professional advice to, and liaison with, other health, community and welfare professionals. The position provides age-appropriate services to individuals of all ages (children, adolescents, adults and the elderly).
The position may also, as required, assist with the provision of support for other D&A consumers during periods of D&A Clinician leave. The position works as part of the larger MHDA team. To see all role requirements please review the position description.
About Wagga Wagga Community Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol (CMHDA)The Wagga Wagga CMHDA team is the largest of six CMHDA teams across Murrumbidgee LHD. The CMHDA team has approximately 18 multidisciplinary clinicians working with mental health consumers, and 7 clinicians working within the drug and alcohol team. The team also includes a range of additional staff including an Aboriginal Mental Health Trainee, Peer Workers, Support Workers and a Family and Carer Support Worker. The drug and alcohol team work alongside Addiction Medicine Specialists and public prescribers who see consumers across clinics each week. Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Services are provided across the life span from the Health Services Hub on the campus of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
We work closely with many community organisations including Calvary Riverina Drug & Alcohol Centre, Pathways, Karralika, Recovery Hub and Medicare Mental Health Centre to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for D&A and MH, and other specialty services such as the Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS).
