The Unit Receptionist role is a dynamic position that requires excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Meet and greet visitors, supporting the multi-disciplinary team with patient admissions and discharging.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
The primary duties include:
- Participate in handover between shifts.
- Coordinate telephone calls and messages promptly and professionally.
- Assist patients, visitors, and general public with enquiries and directions.
- Receive and create pre-admission forms, checking health insurance details and notifying patients of any extra charges they may incur.
- Admit new admissions for the day.
- Distribute and coordinate ingoing and ongoing mail and faxes.
- Photocopying and other duties as required.
- Coordinate with the Manager or Hospital Coordinator of any problems encountered while on duty.
- Maintain cordial relations with patients, family, all ancillary staff, and other members of the department.
- Work with doctors and nurses, providing assistance with any administrative tasks they may need.
Requirements:
- Superior communication skills with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families, and medical staff.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritise and multitask a busy and varied workload with experience in the healthcare industry highly regarded.

- Salary $57,859 to $59,522 (pro rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation.
