Job Title: Childrens Sales Manager, Education and Trade

The role of the Sales Development Manager is to develop and deliver sales and profit targets for a leading publisher's childrens lists in the School, Library, and Trade channels.

The successful candidate will cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education, library, and trade sectors to understand their customers and maximise sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies in core childrens sales avenues such as schools, libraries, and specialised trade channels.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education, library, and trade sectors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in marketing and sales to create and deliver dynamic and targeted campaigns.
  • Manage an existing portfolio of accounts including clubs and fairs, library suppliers, educational suppliers, specialist childrens bookshops, and head office accounts.
  • Identify new channel opportunities and build a network of contacts by attending education, library, and bookseller related events and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Genuine passion for childrens books.
  • Experience in publishing sales, in library, or education channels.
  • Confidence delivering sales results to long-term deadlines.
  • Skilled in negotiation.
  • Ability to think on your feet.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present compelling sales pitches to both individual clients and larger audiences.
  • Strong numeracy and commercial acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This is a full-time permanent role with a hybrid working arrangement. Attendance in the Melbourne office is frequent, and some occasional interstate travel may be involved.
