Indigenous Affairs Reporter Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Indigenous affairs journalist to join our team.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing insightful and comprehensive reporting on Indigenous affairs issues, including breaking news stories, features, explainers, analysis, and investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality written content that meets the highest standards of journalism
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities across Australia
- Engage with social media platforms to promote stories and engage with audiences
- Work collaboratively with the federal politics team and state editors to ensure comprehensive coverage of Indigenous policy
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Australian issues and events
- Strong network of contacts within Indigenous communities across Australia
- At least five years' experience in national journalism, preferably in digital news
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Passion for independent journalism and commitment to editorial code and values
