Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Team Lead to join our team at Markel Corporation. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for managing a team of Product Development Specialists and overseeing the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Oversee and manage a team of Product Development Specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Product Development: Develop forms for new and revised coverages and products, ensuring they convey underwriting intent, demonstrate market competitiveness, and incorporate clear and supportable language for the successful resolution of claims.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Identify and confirm compliance with applicable regulations, analyzing and interpreting the impact of bureau form changes on existing coverage forms.
  • Documentation and Communication: Prepare applicable documentation to assist department members on accurate and timely submission of product filings and State Department of Insurance requests.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Development: Assist, mentor, coach, and proactively share knowledge in area of expertise with other PRS associates, assessing and evaluating individual Product Development Specialist and team performance.
  • Resource Planning: Assist in assessment of resource needs, fostering and encouraging strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects as requested.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the product development and coverage forms area of P&C insurance required.
  • Skills: Ability to conceptualize and create insurance forms and endorsements, interpret state laws and regulations as applicable to the insurance policy lifecycle, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong interpersonal ability.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in insurance or a related field.
