Job Title: Gallery Attendant

About the Role:

• We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Gallery Attendant.
• This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with the public.
• The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To provide exceptional customer service to visitors, responding to their queries and providing information about the museum's collections.
2. To undertake guided tours of the galleries, sharing knowledge and passion for the art and history on display.
3. To maintain the gallery spaces, including setting up and taking down exhibitions, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the area.
4. To work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of the gallery.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Art History, Museum Studies or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Physical stamina to handle lifting and moving exhibition materials
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends

Training and Support:

Availability:

• Mornings: Wednesday, Friday, Sunday - 9am - 1pm

Requirements:

• Able to commit to regular rostered shifts
• Available to work during peak periods, including school holidays and special events
