The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in elevating the racing product and profile across industry and public platforms. This position requires a unique blend of strategic planning, logistical support, and media relations to ensure seamless execution of race programming, contractor oversight, and on-the-ground operational support.

  • Race Programming Support: Collaborate with stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and deliver high-quality race programming, including analysis of key races.
  • Contractor and Supplier Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors and suppliers to guarantee exceptional standards are consistently met.
  • Logistical Support: Provide critical logistical support during events and on racetrack days, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Facilities Management: Lead the governance and oversight of facilities management to guarantee operational readiness and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant safety policies and regulations, prioritizing equine welfare and racing rules.
  • Race Meeting Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning and delivery of race meetings, trial meetings, jump outs, and special event days.
  • Media Liaison: Serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Digital Enhancements: Develop innovative digital content and initiatives to boost on-course wagering, incorporating storytelling, talent-focused content, and real-time engagement.
  • Racing Promotion: Foster relationships with commercial partners, showcasing racing opportunities and behind-the-scenes experiences.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Deliver regular updates and insights to senior management on racing performance and media activity.
  • Trend Monitoring: Analyze wagering trends and identify strategic opportunities to enhance engagement across diverse punter segments.
  • Racetrack Performance Review: Conduct thorough reviews of racetrack performance, incorporating industry feedback and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Media, Sport Management, Business, Marketing, Commerce, or Data Analytics (or a related field).
  • Proven experience in a live events environment or within the racing industry.
  • Deep understanding of consumer engagement strategies and wagering drivers within the racing sector.

Key Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex spreadsheet creation, formula use, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of thoroughbred racing operations, protocols, and best practices.
  • Proven expertise in media, journalism, public relations, or communications—ideally within the racing, sport, or entertainment sectors.
  • Proficiency in using web-based applications and digital platforms for content management, reporting, and operational coordination.
  • Ability to manage finances, including forecasting, budget tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with enterprise video platforms for live streaming, video hosting, and data reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Tipper or other racing-specific tools used for form guides, race data, and operational content delivery.
