Remuneration (illustrative rates across roles): Clinical Nurse Specialist Gde 2: $57.11 to $58.99 per hour; Psychologist: $39.01 - $57.10 per hour; Clinical Psychologist: $55.10 to $67.16 per hour; Senior Psychologist: $60.12 to $65.15 per hour; Occupational Therapist Level 3: $56.69 to $58.52 per hour; Social Worker Level 3: $56.69 to $58.52 per hour.

What You'll Be Doing

Youth Mental Health Initiative (YMHI) Senior Clinician will provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, intensive therapeutic interventions and integrated psychosocial responses to young people experiencing complex and severe mental health concerns. They will provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to support strengths-based and recovery-oriented mental health care and treatment. The YMHI aims to improve early access to care for 12–25 year-olds presenting to headspace services with severe and complex needs, and will enhance youth mental health supports in Southern NSW by improving service integration.

YMHI senior clinicians will be part of the local Community Mental Health teams, with time co-located within headspace centres. They will collaborate with partner agencies to develop streamlined referral pathways and ensure timely transition of care between partner services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, intensive therapeutic interventions and psychosocial supports for youth with complex mental health needs.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise clinical staff to deliver recovery-oriented care.
  • Collaborate with headspace and partner agencies to improve youth mental health pathways and service integration.
  • Develop streamlined referral pathways and ensure timely transition of care between services.
Selection Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists or Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for Social Workers. Significant clinical experience in child and youth mental health is highly desirable.
  • Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment for young people and their carers; understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
  • Ability to apply advanced reasoning and independent professional judgment to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team to achieve service goals and improve consumer outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; competence with information technology systems.
  • Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes; lead ongoing quality improvement activities with staff.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision and support to staff and students.
  • Current unrestricted driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
