We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Operational Officer to support our Senior Ethnobotanist in documenting biocultural knowledge about bushtucker and traditional plant use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in fieldwork and meetings on country and in the office
  • Collate ethnobotanical information and support initiatives associated with the Tropical Indigenous Ethnobotany Centre
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Traditional Owners, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Accurately record information in the field and maintain databases
  • Provide administrative support and contribute to the development of project materials
Requirements
  • Interest in plants and/or cultural knowledge
  • Ability to acquire plant identification skills and herbarium procedure techniques
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to accurately record information and maintain databases
  • Computer skills, including data entry and retrieval, and proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Ability to follow work instructions and procedures, and work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete work tasks in an accurate and timely manner
