Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Midwifery Educator to join our team at Western Health. As a key member of our midwifery education team, you will be responsible for providing clinical facilitation, education, supervision, and consultation to midwifery staff, preceptors, transition to practice midwives, postgraduate and undergraduate midwifery students in the clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective clinical education programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of midwifery staff and students.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to midwives and students to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based clinical practices and policies.
  • Conduct regular audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including midwifery staff, students, and external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with current clinical issues and challenges in the midwifery field and apply this knowledge to inform education and practice.
Requirements
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
  • Minimum of four years post-midwifery registration experience with advanced clinical knowledge and skill across the pregnancy continuum.
  • Master's qualification with an educational focus, or working towards one.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good computer literacy skills, including proficiency in the use of ICT systems.
  • RANZCOG FSEP Level 3 practitioner level.
  • Experience in IV cannulation, perineal repair, discharge examination of the healthy term newborn, and providing care to women with high dependency needs.
  • Current Train the Trainer for core competencies, including Back for Life/Manual Patient Handling, Neonatal and Basic Life Support.
