Director of Operations

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the Capability Design and Delivery section in driving technological advancement across our organization.
The section plays a pivotal role in delivering end-to-end solutions for new ICT initiatives, fostering innovation, and executing major enhancement projects aligned with strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage relevant teams, including APS and contractors, to ensure planning, monitoring, and delivery of team and section work programs.
- Develop and mentor staff to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with our values.
- Coordinate project delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Define project scope, budget, and priorities through Requests for Digital Investment (RDIs).
- Bilateral stakeholder engagement to build partnerships, manage expectations, and negotiate solutions.
- Monitor and report on project performance, risks, and benefits realization to senior leadership.
- Optimize specialist resource use on projects, including internal and external contractors, consultants, and other ICT teams.
- Ensure project alignment with organizational strategic objectives and government priorities.
- Comply with relevant governance frameworks, procurement policies, and legislative requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in delivery practices and processes.
This role is open to Commonwealth employees only located in select cities.
