ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior GRC Specialist - Cyber Security Consultant plays a pivotal role in advancing cyber security governance, risk management, and compliance. This position involves providing expert consulting services to significant Australian Federal Government clients, focusing on the development of cyber security policies and strategies while collaborating with a highly skilled team to strengthen the client's security framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with internal teams to identify and address security vulnerabilities.
  • Perform compliance evaluations against government-wide and industry benchmarks.
  • Develop threat models customized to the organization’s specific context and relevant systems.
  • Draft and enhance security policies and procedures.
  • Support initiatives to elevate cyber security awareness and protect critical systems and data.
  • Lead a team to achieve project goals within defined scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Facilitate the automation of data collection and reporting services for cyber security metrics.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to fulfill privacy, security, compliance, and financial goals through effective security practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be an Australian citizen with an AGSVA security clearance (minimum NV1).
  • Over 5 years of experience in delivering cyber security solutions across diverse projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of cyber security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISM, PSPF, Essential 8, NIST, ISO 27001/27002).
  • Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of effective collaboration across various clients and team members.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and compliance evaluations in ICT sectors.
  • Solid understanding of governance principles pertaining to cyber security.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to manage time effectively and deliver results as part of a dynamic team.
  • Professional demeanor with a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in preparing tenders and technical writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring high-performing, multi-disciplinary cyber security teams.
  • Proven success in business development and creating profitable new opportunities.
