Facility and Compliance Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Facility and Compliance Operations Manager to join our Engineering Services division in Port Melbourne. This is a critical role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and regulatory knowledge.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules for industrial plant, equipment, and facilities using MEX software
- Organize scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including third-party suppliers
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of plant machinery and equipment
- Manage and maintain Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments for relevant equipment
- Manage maintenance budgets and control costs without compromising safety and efficiency
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team, ensuring timely completion of all maintenance tasks
- Ensure the availability of necessary spare parts and maintenance supplies
- Manage and maintain accurate records of chemical stock holdings, risk assessments, and relevant documentation in accordance with regulations using ChemAlert software
- Develop and maintain procedures for the safe management of hazardous materials
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards related to Dangerous Goods
- Manage and maintain accurate calibration records of relevant equipment
- Schedule and organize the calibration of equipment through external calibration laboratories and suppliers, minimizing equipment downtime
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) laws and regulations
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures, including JSA/SWMS as required
- Ensure quality accreditation, regulatory, and legislative compliance
- Implement WHS plans and procedures effectively in work areas, including staff induction and training, addressing WHS hazards promptly
- Implement operations with environmental considerations in accordance with the Environmental Management System (ENVMS)
- Relevant trade qualification(s)
- Experience in facility/workshop and plant management or equivalent
- Certification in WHS advantageous
- Experience managing contractor services
- Ability to engage positively with diverse technical, engineering, scientific, and management stakeholders
- Computer literacy and proficiency in compliance management software like MEX and ChemAlert
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and requirements regarding Workplace Healthy and Safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive and proactive attitude
- A competitive remuneration package with salary circa $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience
