Grid Connection Specialist Job Description

The Grid Connection Specialist plays a pivotal role in the design and grid connection assessment of wind farms, providing expert advice and recommendations to stakeholders.

The primary functions of this position include conceptual design, static and dynamic modeling, and cost optimization of wind farm projects in Australia and the APAC Region.

  • Establish grid options through discussion with utilities or subcontractors during the development phase.
  • Negotiate technical requirements with stakeholders, including AEMO and NSP or relevant Grid Authorities in the APAC region.
  • Define technical requirements for wind turbines and electrical design, including grid connection/compliance studies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality technical reports for major tasks undertaken.
- Manage project grid connections through the construction phase.
- Conduct grid code compliance testing and reporting.
- Participate in industry forums and provide support to fellow engineers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Australia in the Grid Connection space.
- Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering with a power system focus and experience in power system analysis using software tools like PSSE, DigSilent Powerfactory, and/or PSCAD.
