Marine Skills Development Specialist

This role has been designed to support the ongoing marine compliance and skills development of our employees across the Kangaroo Island Ferry Service.

A key position reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring our business and employees are suitably skilled to meet AMSA and AMFA regulations for operational excellence and compliance.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine operations and experience in training and development. They will be required to prioritise their time between facilitating and coordinating training needs and managing terminal infrastructure and service equipment.

With leadership qualities and a growth mindset, this role will motivate and drive employee engagement in upskilling and development.

This position will provide an essential backup to the Marine Operations Manager and will suit candidates with experience in Learning and Development roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure operating procedures, company policies, and emergency procedures are maintained in line with National Law and WHS requirements.
  • To direct and lead employees to support and ensure safety compliance is not compromised and compliance is met.
  • To build relationships with the team to implement and drive change.
  • To plan and organise skills development programs.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of marine legislation and advanced knowledge of marine compliance.
  • A MED2 certificate of competency and tertiary qualifications in Training and Assessment and Leadership would be advantageous.
