Job Description

The role of a Lead Engineer at this company involves providing technical leadership and expertise in the development and delivery of transmission substations projects.

This requires working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are developed and delivered in a cost-efficient way and to high standards of quality.

  • Providing technical expertise in responses to the infrastructure market;
  • Supporting business development and project delivery activities and client management with techno-commercial inputs in the space of electrical substation design and construction;
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring engineering team members, sharing your considerable experience in dealing with project and technical issues to achieve the best outcomes;
  • Delivering expert engineering and technical support into projects across various portfolios, applying technical knowledge to drive efficient design and construction outcomes;
  • Managing the development of tender and detailed designs, scopes, specifications and other project activities while managing workflows and the quality of work produced by others;
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce innovation and new technologies;
  • Assessing technical risks and ensuring they are managed through design or commercial means;
  • Representing the company on technical matters with clients and partners;
  • Evaluating options and making recommendations for complex technical problems requiring inventiveness.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need 10+ years' experience in utilities or a related industry with proficiency in design, construction and asset management of Terminal Station & Substation rated up to 500kV. A Degree in Engineering or tertiary qualification is also required. Additionally, you must demonstrate success in delivering projects to time and budget while maintaining outstanding customer service and positive customer relationships.

You should have demonstrable knowledge of primary and/or secondary electrical equipment as used in Terminal Stations and Substations in respect to their design, performance, functionality, operation and maintenance, rated at up to 500kV.
