Job Title: Senior Mining Engineer

About this role:

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our underground mining operations team. As a key member of the Technical Services department, you will be responsible for production engineering functions to support our underground operations.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders including technical services and underground mining operations departments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Short-term planning and scheduling, including monthly and weekly schedules;
  • Monitoring and supporting stope reconciliations, production analysis, and improvement;
  • Cost management, including monitoring underground costs and providing input as required for annual budget and forecasts;
  • Coverage of planning, production, and operational roles as required;
  • Leading the identification, reporting, and management of potential hazards and working to eliminate risk-taking behaviors or actions;
  • Maintaining awareness of environmental risks and obligations around underground mining operations areas to identify at-risk activities requiring specialist advice.

Required qualifications and skills include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
  • WA First Class Managers Certificate of Competency (ideal);
  • 5+ years mine engineering experience (planning, scheduling, ventilation, D&B) underground;
  • Competent with mine design and scheduling software, Deswik Suites;
  • Leadership experience in providing direction and influencing activities of others;
  • Proven ability to identify, understand, and solve complex problems;
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate numerical and graphical information;
  • A positive attitude toward safety, increasing safety awareness, ability to implement safety training, and set an example for others.
