About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our team at RACQ. As an Underwriting Officer, you will be responsible for underwriting policies that require manual intervention, ensuring adherence to agreed criteria and underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite policies requiring manual intervention in line with underwriting guidelines and industry regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to provide high-quality service and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of insurance regulations, including the Insurance Contracts Act and the General Insurance Code of Practice.
  • Manage time and organisational tasks efficiently, ensuring high standards of work and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and maintain accountability for practices and decisions.
  • Deliver consistent quality in both internal and external customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
  • Adapt to diverse situations and perspectives, showing flexibility and understanding in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain performance standards and stress resilience, particularly during peak times and high-pressure situations.
  • Communicate technical issues in a clear, non-technical manner, ensuring effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
About You:
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and uphold high standards of work, with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Proven track record in delivering excellent customer service, with a focus on customer satisfaction and experience.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle various situations effectively, with a flexible and positive attitude.
  • Resilience under stress, with consistent performance and a strong work ethic.
  • Skilled in explaining technical matters to non-technical individuals, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
