About Us

The Phlebotomy Service is located on Ground Level of Building 1, Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba.

We provide a specimen collection service to outpatients and inpatients and two off-site clinics at Inala and Burke Street.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, hospital staff and colleagues to ensure the correct collection of appropriate blood and non-blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients as requested.
  • Perform duties that include the restocking of pathology consumables, maintaining clean work areas and assisting where directed by Phlebotomy Supervisors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Certificate III in Pathology Specimen Collection or higher would be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
  • Able to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately.
  • An established history of well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to participate in an established roster covering a range of shifts within the hours of 6:30am to 10:00pm 7 days a week including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays where rostered.
