Job Title: Community Engagement SpecialistAbout the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Engagement Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities targeted at underrepresented cohorts in engineering, including women, non-binary and gender diverse people, those from low socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds, UNSW Gateway schools, remote/rural communities, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate and implement community engagement initiatives and activities targeting underrepresented cohorts in engineering.
  2. Establish and manage strategic partnerships within UNSW and externally with relevant stakeholders to leverage activities that enhance collective impact.
  3. Oversee development and implementation of project plans and schedules, contributing to planning processes for key initiatives.
  4. Monitor, track and report on project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics align with approved plans.
  5. Provide consultative advice and strategic guidance on attracting and retaining students from underrepresented cohorts in Engineering.
  6. Design, develop and implement effective marketing and communications strategies for activities and initiatives targeted to underrepresented cohorts and relevant communities.
  7. Manage stakeholder communications across multiple internal and external channels.
Requirements:
  • Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience or equivalent competence, preferably within higher education or working with underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fostering student engagement and crafting programs aimed at building community.
  • Passion for the engineering sector and equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Significant project and event coordination experience with ability to plan, implement and report on outcomes.
  • Engagement and stakeholder management skills with a track record of delivering outcomes.
  • Budget management for engagement programs with responsible resource allocation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently while managing competing demands.
