About the Role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting diagnostic services critical to patient care. This role plays a key part in assisting with the preparation, processing, and support of clinical microbiology specimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and handle microbiology samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and complete associated administrative tasks.
- Support culture setup and plate preparation activities.
- Manage stock levels and prepare reagents as required.
- Data entry and sample tracking using the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Requirements:
- Prior experience or knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
- The ability to prioritise tasks, work methodically and efficiently, and meet deadlines is crucial.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, even under time pressures, are required.
- A proactive and flexible approach to changing work demands is necessary.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety standards is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on supporting scientific and clinical staff, are required.
