First Nations Partnership Lead

This role requires a highly experienced professional to develop and implement a First Nations partnership strategy. The successful candidate will provide leadership and support for the delivery of existing partnerships and work in collaboration to develop future partnerships.

The role involves building strong foundations to advance our impact significantly. The First Nations Partnership Lead will lead the development and implementation of our First Nations partnership strategy, drive execution and delivery, and ensure initiatives are delivered effectively on time and within scope.

  • Strategy Development:
    • Lead the development and implementation of our First Nations partnership strategy.
  • Cultural Leadership:
    • Provide leadership and support for the delivery of existing partnerships and work in collaboration to develop future partnerships.
    • Leading innovations to embed cultural learning in our activities and programs, empowering staff to build relationships and work effectively with First Nations communities.
  • Strategic Advisory:
    • Providing strategic advice to support health equity and access.
    • Building, maintaining, and supporting business engagement in respectful, reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, peak bodies, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs).
About You:
  • Qualifications in leadership, public health, community development or related disciplines.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations with national or multi-jurisdictional operations.
  • Familiarity with Closing the Gap, Indigenous data sovereignty, and national reconciliation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading First Nations engagement strategy or partnership roles, preferably within the health, community, or social services sectors.
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures, knowledge systems, and self-determination principles.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement, relationship building, and cultural governance experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic initiatives, influence change, and build internal capability.
