Your Role:
- Develop and implement family-centered plans to support vulnerable families, focusing on child safety, stability, and development.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinator (LAC), and Support Coordinator, to identify and address the disability support needs of children.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of families, incorporating both child development and systemic perspectives.
- Provide parenting support through various means, including in-home support, role-modeling, and group work, to enhance parents' confidence and learning.
- Employ a family-centered approach that builds on family strengths and support strategies, allowing parents and families to develop greater capacity to provide care within the family home.
- Ensure families have access to easy-to-understand information, supporting healthy and positive decisions regarding their care and well-being.
- Participate in team development and maintenance, including staff meetings, team meetings, and staff development, to foster a cohesive and supportive work environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data and case records in accordance with program guidelines.
About You:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the 'Best Interest Principles' outlined in the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the best interest of the child.
- Exhibit a deep understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect, combined with the capability to engage children and families experiencing multiple and complex needs, including disability, family violence, and substance abuse.
- Display the ability to conduct comprehensive child-focused safety and wellbeing assessments and make sound judgments regarding prescribed actions.
- Apply individual and systemic theories and evidence-based approaches that underpin effective, intensive, in-home family-based interventions.
- Demonstrate highly developed communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline at degree level, or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare.
