Your Role:

  • You will manage a caseload of families and engage with young families in a respectful manner, prioritizing their safety, stability, and development.
  • Collaborate with the family, NDIA, LAC, and/or Support Coordinator to identify disability support needs and prevent alternative care arrangements.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of families, considering child development and systemic perspectives.
  • Provide parenting support through in-home assistance, role-modelling, and group work to enhance parents' confidence and learning.
  • Intervene using a family-centred approach that builds on strengths and support strategies, allowing parents to provide care within the family home or until alternative arrangements can be identified.
  • Ensure parents and children have access to easy-to-understand information for healthy decision-making, including delivering various intervention modes and approaches to enhance parenting capacity, parent-child relationships, and social connectedness.
  • Promote a cohesive team environment by participating in staff meetings, team discussions, and professional development, as well as regular supervision and reflective practice.
  • Maintain accurate data and case records in accordance with program guidelines.

About You:

  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to working within the 'Best Interest Principles' outlined in the Children Youth and Families Act 2005 and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best interests of the child.
  • Show awareness of the social context of child abuse and neglect, along with the ability to engage with families experiencing complex needs, including disability, family violence, and AOD issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct comprehensive child-focused safety and wellbeing assessments and make sound judgments regarding prescribed actions.
  • Apply individual and systemic theories and evidence-based approaches that underpin effective, intensive, in-home family-based interventions.
  • Develop strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related field at degree level, or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare is required.

Salary Estimate:

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
