Your Role
- You will be responsible for managing a caseload of families and engaging with vulnerable young families in a respectful and sustained manner, prioritizing their safety, stability, and development.
- Working closely with families, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators (LACs), and Support Coordinators, you will identify disability support needs and develop strategies to prevent alternative care arrangements for children.
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of families, which encompass both child development and systemic perspectives, you will provide parenting support through various means, such as in-home support, role-modeling, and group work, to enhance parents' confidence and learning.
- Using a family-centered approach, you will build on family strengths and support strategies to enable parents and families to provide care within the family home or until alternative arrangements can be made.
- You will also provide access to easy-to-understand information, supporting healthy and positive decisions regarding the care of themselves and their children.
- Making an active commitment to team development, you will participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and staff development, as well as regular supervision, group supervision, and reflective practice individually and as part of a team.
- Data collection and case record maintenance will be conducted in accordance with program guidelines.
About You
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to working within the Best Interest Principles outlined in the Children Youth and Families Act 2005, along with the ability to collaborate with other professionals in the best interest of the child.
- Understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect, combined with capability in engaging children and families experiencing multiple and complex needs, including disability, family violence, and AOD.
- Able to conduct comprehensive child-focused safety and wellbeing assessments and make sound judgments regarding prescribed actions.
- Understanding and application of individual and systemic theories and evidence-based approaches underpinning effective, intensive, in-home family-based interventions.
- Highly developed communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline at degree level, or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare. Competitive salary range is $80,000-$110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
