Your Role

  • You will manage a caseload of families, using a range of techniques to engage with vulnerable young families in a respectful way. This will be sustained and underpinned by risk planning for child safety, stability, and development.
  • You will work collaboratively with families, NDIA, LAC, and/or Support Coordinator to identify disability support needs of the child and prevent alternative care arrangements.
  • You will undertake comprehensive assessments of families, incorporating child development and systemic perspectives.
  • You will provide parenting support in various ways to enhance parents' confidence and learning.
  • You will intervene using a family-centred approach that builds on family strengths and support strategies, allowing parents and families to build capacity to provide care within the family home.
  • You will provide support for parents and children, ensuring they have access to easy-to-understand information, facilitating healthy decisions regarding their care.
  • You will commit to developing and maintaining a cohesive team, participating in staff meetings, team meetings, and staff development.
  • You will collect and maintain data and case records according to program guidelines.

About You

  • You possess a demonstrated understanding and commitment to working within the Best Interest Principles outlined in the Children Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • You understand the social context of child abuse and neglect, combined with the capability to engage children and families experiencing multiple and complex needs.
  • You can conduct comprehensive child-focused safety and wellbeing assessments, making sound judgments regarding prescribed actions.
  • You understand individual and systemic theories and evidence-based approaches that underpin effective intensive in-home family based interventions.
  • You possess highly developed communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline at degree level, or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
