Regional News Reporter

The role of a regional news reporter involves reporting on stories and events impacting New Zealand & the Pacific region as a journalist. Key responsibilities include producing, writing and shooting original news packages and content relevant to New Zealand and the surrounding Pacific region.

  • Operate independently in foreign countries to report on relevant news stories
  • Pitch original stories and execute ideas
  • Travel where required across the region to report on current events
  • Write and contribute to online news platforms
  • Liaise with editorial staff to discuss coverage
  • Manage administrative tasks and equipment maintenance

Success requires independence, confidence and resilience to operate in foreign environments. You will also be able to operate a video journalist kit, ability to broadcast live and perform on camera, flexibility to respond and react to breaking news, outstanding news judgement, excellent time management skills and ability to withstand pressure, knowledge and passion for international news and current affairs.
