Victim Recognition Specialist Role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety seeks a skilled Victim Recognition Specialist to support victims and their families. In this critical role, you will provide expert advice, working closely with Police, Racing, and Coordination teams.

You will be responsible for reviewing trauma-informed victim recognition statements, coordinating complex victim recognition meetings, and engaging with key stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will have a deep understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community and experience in direct human service delivery from a trauma-informed perspective.

A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in fields related to community and social services, social policy, social work, law, or public administration is highly desirable.

  • Develop comprehensive trauma-informed victim recognition statements that acknowledge and affirm the experience of the victim in accordance with the Act.
  • Utilize authoritative knowledge of relevant processes to assess victim needs and coordinate complex victim recognition meetings.
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective recognition meetings, including venue logistics and travel arrangements.
