Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

We are seeking a skilled tradesperson to perform mechanical installations on train components. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling railway vehicle parts using standard work procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures
  • Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components
  • Ensure that all work is efficiently planned and undertaken in a safe manner
  • Perform self-inspection of railway car components to identify defects and ensure quality
  • Remove and replace defective parts and components
  • Proficiently cross-reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor
  • Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certificate 3 in Mechanical Trade (boilermaking, pipefitting, machinist, mechanic)
  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions
  • Experience in production or assembly is an advantage but not mandatory
