About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Counsel to join our Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety team. As a key member of our team, you will provide authoritative legal advice on complex employment and industrial relations matters, and conduct strategic and efficient workplace relations litigation in all relevant State and Federal jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice on employment-related issues, including workplace behaviour and performance, workplace investigations, bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
  • Conduct strategic and efficient workplace relations litigation in all relevant State and Federal jurisdictions.
  • Lead high-performing legal teams and provide strategic leadership and clear direction.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to meet current and emerging business and client needs.
  • Collaborate with senior VGSO executives and public servants to achieve optimum outcomes for Government.
Requirements
  • Recognised specialist in Workplace Relations, including the provision of authoritative legal advice on complex and sensitive employment and industrial relations matters.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in conducting strategic and efficient workplace relations litigation in all relevant State and Federal jurisdictions.
  • Highly skilled in communicating complex legal ideas to diverse audiences in diverse ways.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading high-performing legal teams and providing strategic leadership and clear direction.
  • High emotional intelligence and clear commitment to a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
