
Aboriginal Trauma Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Aboriginal counsellor to work with adults, young people and children who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in social work or psychology and full AHPRA registration. They will also have experience working with complex trauma and demonstrated knowledge of the key health issues that impact Aboriginal people and communities.
The successful applicant will provide assessments, crisis and ongoing counselling to adults and children who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault. They will also develop and implement culturally sensitive programs to meet the needs of Aboriginal clients.
- Assess and develop care plans for clients experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault;
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions for clients;
- Collaborate with other agencies to provide comprehensive services to clients;
- Develop and implement culturally sensitive programs to meet the needs of Aboriginal clients;
This role requires applicants to be vaccinated against certain infectious diseases. Applicants must also have a valid NSW drivers licence, corroboration of Aboriginality and community, and current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist or Social Work degree.
Key Requirements- Qualifications: Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification in Psychology;
- Registration: Full AHPRA registration;
- Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience working with adults, young people and children with complex trauma;
- Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the key health issues that impact Aboriginal people and communities;
- Cultural Competence: Ability to provide cultural supervision and education;
