Job Description

Australia's energy system and market operator is seeking a Senior Commercial/Regulatory Analyst to join its Market Management group. The team is responsible for building and operating systems and processes to receive and validate meter data, generate timely and accurate settlement statements, settle markets and monitor prudential positions.

The role sits within the Prudentials team and primary accountabilities include consulting with internal and external stakeholders and market participants to influence process design and the delivery of operational tools, report writing and support to regulatory submissions and market consultation, ability to represent and present AEMO positions at industry forums, and ensuring internal operational processes are aligned and executed in accordance with market rules and production cycles.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Mandatory minimum degree qualification in economics, commerce, finance, or information systems
  • Relevant work experience in the Energy industry, including experience in related industries such as utilities, with a focus on Commercial, Regulatory, or Legal areas
  • Strong written interpretation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and articulate conclusions from data and rule inputs
  • Experience operating in a legal, compliance, and rules-based environment
  • Understanding of energy market structures such as NEM, WEM, or gas markets, with knowledge of settlement or prudentials processes as an advantage
