Job Title: Senior Public Policy Specialist

 

The Western Australian Government seeks a highly skilled Senior Public Policy Specialist to join the Intergovernmental Relations Directorate. This key role plays a pivotal part in shaping the state's position on the national stage, collaborating closely with government agencies and other states and territories.

This critical position requires a candidate with exceptional policy expertise, strategic thinking, and strong interpersonal skills. The successful individual will be able to build and maintain relationships at senior levels, convey complex ideas clearly, and drive positive change in Western Australia.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of public policy principles, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. They will be responsible for crafting high-quality advice and briefing materials for national and intergovernmental forums, fostering collaboration across government agencies, and developing effective relationships with counterparts nationwide.

Key priorities for this role include supporting the negotiation of the National Health Reform Agreement and contributing to the design and implementation of Thriving Kids in Western Australia as part of national reforms to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

To excel in this position, the candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to translate data into informed policy decisions. Strong networking skills are essential, along with the capacity to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
