The Opportunity:
This role shapes the communications strategy, building trust, transparency, and engagement across all stakeholders – employees, members, government, media, and broader segments.
This strategic leader ensures internal and external communications reinforce brand promise and values, supporting strategic priorities and safeguarding reputational integrity.
The role enhances trust in the organisation and its product brands, supporting its ambition to lead secure, inclusive, and innovative payments experiences for all in Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the organisation's purpose, strategic objectives, and brand identity.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on communication, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate across organisational functions, aligning communications with key teams and departments.
- Lead internal and executive communications initiatives to engage and inspire colleagues, reinforce organisational culture, and support change and transformation.
- Oversight of media relations and public affairs, including proactive storytelling, responsive media engagement, and issues management.
- Manage stakeholder and member communications to ensure clarity, transparency, and integrity across the diverse ecosystem.
- Lead and develop a high-performing communications team, cultivating collaboration, innovation, and excellence in execution.
- Take a lead role in coordinating communication efforts during incidents or crises, ensuring timely, transparent, and trustworthy engagement with stakeholders.
Desired Capabilities:
- 10+ years of senior-level experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or a related field within highly regulated, complex, or member-based organisations.
- Proven track record in leading enterprise-wide communications strategies that support organisational transformation, reputation management, and stakeholder trust.
- Strong experience operating in a matrix organisation, with demonstrated ability to lead through influence and drive alignment across diverse internal functions and external partners.
- Deep expertise in media relations and issues management, including acting as spokesperson and managing reputational risk in high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrated success in executive communications, including speechwriting, internal narratives, and change communications for senior leaders.
- Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
